Challenges to take in 2025: what will be on your list?

Starting the new year with a challenge in mind is a great way to start 2025!

Having a challenge is a good way to focus your mind and motivate yourself for the months ahead.

For many people, the new year is a new beginning, and they will set themselves several new year resolutions to try and achieve.

These New Year resolutions can be anything from giving up drinking to seeing your friends more, getting a promotion at work, or challenging themselves.

The idea of a challenge can be anything, but in this case, we are going to look into fitness challenges you can take on.

From The West Highland Way in 9 days to a half marathon or triathlon, we look into three challenges that you can set yourself to complete in the next 12 months.

Half Marathon

The go-to for a lot of people is a half-marathon.

Half marathons have been going on for many years, more than you can count and can be located anywhere in the world – from New York to London and anywhere in between.

They are a great challenge to take on as they are harder than attempting a couch to 5k but easier than running a marathon – you can aim for a marathon after if you feel brave.

Half marathons will test your body in many ways, from your overall fitness to your mental strength.

Triathlon

If you are someone who likes to do bits of multiple things, then a triathlon may be for you.

A triathlon involves running, cycling and swimming.

The distances of each will vary depending on the event, but you can expect cycling to be the longest, then running then swimming.

The fun thing about a triathlon is that you get to try three different exercises, instead of one at a longer distance.

Most people will have an area of a triathlon that they excel at and then the others which they are average at. For example, you may be a good runner, but not the best cyclist or vice versa.

Hiking Trip

If you are new to fitness and want to do something challenging but not as strenuous as a half-marathon, then a hiking trip is ideal.

On a hiking trip, you can travel over 100 miles, over several days.

You will get to see a plethora of landscapes as well as spend quality time with the people around you – a lot of people like to go on a hiking trip with their friends or family members for this reason.

You’ll burn plenty of calories and if you enjoy travelling, you can journey to many countries to hike their landscapes. In fact, a lot of people will book walking holidays as part of their yearly breakaway.
